The natural high-performance material of the EXPLORER series is composed of 15% kapok and 85% modal.
KAPOK
The kapok fiber, harvested from the fruits of the kapok tree, is a lightweight, hypoallergenic, and environmentally friendly natural material appreciated for its excellent thermal insulation, water repellency, and durability. Thanks to a fine natural wax coating, it also provides a pleasant feel and grip. It is especially popular among people with allergies.
Another advantage: Kapok trees grow naturally with no need for fertilization or extra watering.
MODAL
Modal is a soft and durable material with natural functions, made 100% from beechwood. We exclusively use raw materials from sustainable forestry plantations.
Due to its natural performance characteristics, modal is ideally suited for athletic apparel and perfectly meets the requirements for performance, comfort, and environmental friendliness.
We have already tested this: We also use modal as part of our ACTIVE KNIT technology for sustainable headwear in the CORE ACTIVE product segment. There, it acts as a Natural Booster – a natural, functional upgrade – for sustainable beanies and headbands that do not conform to the typical sports look. Cool style & function in one product.

The 'Spun Dyed Yarn' Process
In a departure from conventional dyeing techniques, which typically dye threads post-spinning, the Spun Dyed Yarn method integrates the dyeing process directly within the spinning phase.
The benefits result in improved environmental compatibility through better energy efficiency during the spinning process and conservation of resources. This process also achieves increased color fastness.
BEST FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
For all EXPLORER models in the natural white color tone, the dyeing process has been completely omitted.
The complete EXPLOERER series featuring a ‘4 elements’ water-based screen print, is awarded with the BLUE BEAR sustainability label from Eisbär.

- Do not use fabric softener.

- Due to the natural fiber, the material may feel somewhat stiffer when wet – this characteristic disappears once dry.
