Janine Flock is ready
Preparation for her skeleton competitions from February 13
Olympia means focus. Reduction. Trust in one's own abilities.
This is exactly what our brand ambassador Janine Flock is currently experiencing in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
She has been in the Olympic Village since February 1. Training, analysis, fine-tuning. Step by step towards competition. From February 13, she will compete in skeleton - a discipline that, like hardly any other, stands for courage, precision, and absolute body control.
Skeleton – Speed on a Razor's Edge
Skeleton is one of the most spectacular disciplines in the ice channel.
At the start, the athletes sprint alongside their sled, push off powerfully, and then jump headfirst onto the sled, which weighs only around 30 kilograms.
They hurtle through the ice channel at speeds of over 130 km/h. Steering is done exclusively through subtle weight shifts and minimal pressure movements with the shoulders, knees, and feet. Every turn demands absolute body control, a precise feel for the line – and nerves of steel.
It is a discipline for athletes with a clear head and maximum confidence in themselves and their equipment. And that's exactly what Janine stands for.
"The track is truly in good condition"
Janine appears calm and focused. In her message from Cortina, she describes the past few days as follows:
The first official training sessions already took place on February 4th and 7th, and official training has been underway since the day before yesterday. The final training session follows today. The track is in very good condition – "very beautiful and smooth," as Janine says. It benefits us a little that the artificial track luge athletes also have competitions.
The conditions visibly bring her joy. The lines were developed and consolidated step by step over the past few days. She wants to fine-tune one section and optimize details before things get serious.
Then follow the routines that are essential in skeleton:
Prepare the sled. Prepare the runners. Adjust the equipment.
Everything as before every race – except this time it's the Olympics.
Today, the final training session for the women's skeleton takes place in Cortina.
Then it's about bringing what has been developed to perfection.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for Janine in her competitions.
